⚠️ Clinical Contraindications

  • Neck & Cervical Strain: Inversion loads the cervical spine; keep the head supported and skip if there is any neck compromise.
  • Osteoporosis / Osteopenia: Loaded flexion and inversion; substitute neutral or extension-based work.

Teaching Cues

Articulation

"Roll up to the balance with the legs stacked over the hips — no swinging."

Control

"Open and close the legs with the adductors — the torso stays still."

Breath

"Exhale to roll up, inhale to open, exhale to close and roll down."

Modifications & Progressions

Supported Roll-Up (Regression)

Use the hands on the carriage to assist the roll up until the balance is clean.

Wider V (Progression)

Open the legs wider in the balance to increase the adductor and control demand.
